New competition for a new month. Time to get thinking. I'm really enjoying the challenge of these weekly writing prompts. It's good to get ideas down quickly and see where they lead to.
The light came upon him unexpectedly. He stopped painting and remembered he should have gone to confession. The light somehow commanded him to speak so with a grimace at the wall with its tired surface still exposed, he began. Gesticulating, tired arms outstretched, he tried to explain. His heart ached with the honesty that poured from him. Tears fell although they had no right to after all this time passed. The light didn't change, there was no flicker, no shift in the shadows cast, no choir, no incense. Perhaps it was all too late. He went back to the wall and continued painting.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17852470180990602675noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1601257943596110739.post-8693201994379385142018-01-25T12:54:00.001-08:002018-01-25T12:54:34.306-08:00Creative writing prompt January 25th
Wake me up when I'm famous she'd never heard him say, although he'd claimed at the party that it was his catch phrase. Wake me up, now that bit was familiar. He had never owned an alarm clock he'd said the night before the morning after. She imagined him being late for work in a few hours as she left under cover of darkness for the bus stop and saw a fox watching her from the hedge. Perhaps he would invest in an alarm clock now.
You are so loved

The cross beds deep into the skin
It tells of love and sacrifice
The ink speaks with bitter tears and the pain of hope
Of capable hands and hearts that overflow
Of miracles and disbelief, anger and acceptance
Belonging and reaching out
Hands in the sky
Hearts emboldened
Eyes searching and spirit clamouring
It speaks of beginning and ending
Of compassion and wonder
The cross lies deep across the skin
You are so loved.
I'm restarting now as I want to refocus on my creative writing and this is a good base to do it from as there are competitions that I can enter from here. I'm reading a lot more and being challenged by that. I'm also writing a ghost story although it is hard going and the motivation has to come from competition deadlines at this stage. Hopefully this will change as I get some of the old discipline back!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17852470180990602675noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1601257943596110739.post-44612719533210077062016-08-07T05:01:00.002-07:002016-08-07T05:01:41.617-07:00Blueberry StormcloudDays 6 and 7 for the poetry writing and I'm still falling back on the good old staple of haiku - and not even technically using the form correctly.... Perhaps just a generic short verse form would suffice. Still, it's quick and interesting and is a good way to keep writing, even in a minimalist way!
I'm just back from Paris so may well write something about that in a while but for the time being, Maria (https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=2378533675754752363#overview/src=dashboard) and I are writing poetry for this month using random words as a stimulus. I've missed the first five so here there are in one go -

Charity
Charity is dead,
when lying on the floor, she
reaches out in vain.
Ineptitude hides me, boxing me in
Hauls me by my scruff and shakes hard
The box lies on the mat, fat and waiting
It sits, ambivalent and pleased with itself
While you circle it and wonder why
Nothing has been ordered you think
And that suspicion creeps fast towards you
A joke perhaps or something more
Something worthwhile that a forest fell
And is still falling to bring mysterious treats
To a doorstep far away
This is the first of a month of writing exercises to get the flow starting...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17852470180990602675noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1601257943596110739.post-8470327517143377102015-05-24T08:01:00.003-07:002015-05-24T08:01:37.372-07:00Long time coming...So I don't appear to have posted in a long while. So much has happened! Okay, well the new Star Wars film has its second trailer and a name. Counting down to December the 18th when The Force Awakens. Please don't let me down, J.J!! Maria and I (http://mgoodson.blogspot.co.uk) have had sort of fun writing a two handed short story where we had to write 100 words each per day and keep it coherent. It almost worked! It was fun though. Collaborative stuff always is. I didn't post any of that up here, not sure why. I've got some inspiration to write something, anything once a week - just to round up what I have been doing and give myself an aerial view of my life. In the meantime though, there is a holiday to take, an assignment to finish and a new job to find. I will get on that soon.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17852470180990602675noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1601257943596110739.post-17928895576767222872015-02-01T12:00:00.001-08:002015-02-01T12:00:21.157-08:00Poetry - the final day
